Can you name this legendary star?

This legendary performer was known as the “King of the Cowboys” for over half a century. He was a symbol of wholesome heroism for millions of children who grew up watching his Saturday morning adventures.

While he became a massive star of the silver screen and a merchandising powerhouse, he actually got his start as a yodeling singer in a famous vocal group that helped define the sound of the American West.

Born in Ohio as Leonard Slye, he was a gifted musician who once worked as a fruit picker and a truck driver before his singing voice paved the way to Hollywood. He was a person of immense loyalty who was so attached to his golden-maned equine partner that he eventually had the animal preserved and displayed in a museum for fans to visit for decades.

Despite his “rugged” screen persona, he was a devoted family man who, along with his famous wife, adopted several children and became a tireless advocate for those in need.

If you recognize this iconic hero, tell us your favorite movie or memory of him in the comments.
