Paul Pelosi Faces Possible Hit-and-Run Charge After California Crash

Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing a possible misdemeanor hit-and-run charge after a collision in Yountville, California, authorities said.

The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. on July 3 along the 6700 block of Yount Street. Investigators said Pelosi, 86, was driving a brown convertible when it struck an unoccupied vehicle legally parked on the side of the road.

A witness told authorities that the convertible briefly stopped before continuing north. The parked vehicle was left with major damage to its rear, while one of its front tires was pushed against the curb.

Deputies later identified Pelosi as the driver. According to the sheriff’s office, he acknowledged striking something but said he did not know what he had hit and continued driving until his vehicle became disabled.

Authorities said alcohol was not considered a factor, and no one was injured. Pelosi was not arrested because the alleged offense involved only property damage. The matter is being referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.

Officials also said a driver re-evaluation referral would be sent to California’s Department of Motor Vehicles, a step commonly taken in cases involving elderly drivers.
